HEAD INSTRUCTOR Tom Dunne was introduced to martial arts at an early age by Kung Fu Instructor Gerd Deering. Following Kung Fu he trained for a short time in Tae Kwon Do with Master Wes Earle. At age 10 he took Judo at the YMCA and at age 13 began training in Kenpo Karate under Sensei Mike Foley Sr. In 1992 Tom was promoted to the rank of Black Belt in Karate.
In 1993 Tom graduated from High School and started University. While in University Tom continued training in Karate with Mike Foley and also trained with Karate Instructor Don Brennan. He also trained in Tae Kwon Do with Master Reg Cantwell, Master Tony Nippard, and Mike Jacobs.
In 1999 Tom graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland. In November 2002 he opened Total Martial Arts and has been operating the company full time ever since (and teaches approximately 500 classes per year).
In November 2008 Tom was promoted to the rank of blue belt at Renzo Gracie Academy in New York City.
He has participated and medaled in numerous competitions and most recently took a double silver victory at the NAGA World Grappling Championships in Newark, New Jersey.
